T ISHA R HODES IS APPOINTED D IRECTOR OF D EVELOPMENT AT THE M ONTGOMERY M USEUM OF F INE A RTS The Director and Board of Trustees at the Montgomery Museum of Fine Arts (MMFA) recently appointed Tisha Rhodes as the Museum’s newDirector of Development. She began her role in late Au- gust. Rhodes arrives at the MMFA after spending two years as the Public Affairs and Development Director for an- other local non-profit, The Family Sunshine Center. Dur- ing her time there, Rhodes dedicated herself to building mission awareness and to fundraising efforts that helped sustain hope and healing for victims of domestic abuse, sexual assault, and human trafficking. From 2014 through mid–2016, Rhodes managed and expanded business, developed operational policies and procedures, and led a rebranding campaign for the well-known Montgomery based catering and events company, Jennie Weller Catering & Events. Rhodes’ arrival at the Museum is actually a homecoming as she previously spent 17 years with the institution as Director of Serv- ices. In this role, she managed Café M, the Museum Store, and all the institution’s internal and external special events and catering services. Rhodes created several long-standing signature events, including Divine Lunch, Jazz Jams, and Artist Market, all helping to build and broaden the Museum attendance. “In her first few weeks on the job, Tisha has already begun to deliver on the priorities and plans she brought forward in ex- ploratory conversations with the Museum. Her abiding passion for the Museum--paired with her deep understanding of the Mu- seum's history and region's leading cultural philanthropists and other funding sources — position her to, again, make critical con- tributions to the Museum's public service and long-term sustain- ability. Tisha's work will — undoubtedly — deepen our capacity to deliver on the promises of our mission, further elevate the reputa- tion of the institution in the region and larger cultural sector, and allow us to leverage that visibility for the collective good of the community as Montgomery's visibility and vibrancy continue to rise,” said Angie Dodson Director at the MMFA. “I am thrilled to be home. The last four and a half years have sharpened my skills and expanded my understanding of our great community. I look forward to being a part of this exciting time of progress in the Museum’s history,” said Rhodes. 58 AL/ Metro 360 www.almetro360.com AREA BUZZ..............................................................................................................................
