I N HER OWN WORDS … “Matt and I met while we were tailgating for an Auburn football game. Matt had been planning the proposal for quite sometime. We knew that we wanted to get married but never really talked about how it would happen. Matt consulted with my younger sister, Emily, and went and picked out a ring. I knew nothing of what was going on. As for the proposal, Matt had this whole day planned out without me knowing anything! Saturday June 1, 2019 I had a meeting in the morning, so Matt asked if I wanted to go to lunch. We went to Amsterdam Cafe for lunch and he had to convince me to “look nice.” While at lunch, he suggested we take a walk around Auburn’s campus to see all of the construction they were doing since we were last there. Once we parked we started to walk around. We were at the exact same spot we met on campus when Matt got down on one knee and asked to marry me!” The Bride is the daughter of Jackie and Jack Spain of Pelham, Alabama. The groom’s parents are Melissa and Mike Wilson of Alexander City, Alabama. The couple exchanged vows on August 1, 2020 at the Riverchase Country Club in Hoover after having to reschedule their wedding due to Covid. The bride was given in marriage by her father and Scott Barnes officiated The bride’s sisters, Robin Smith and Emily Spain, stood by her as Matron and Maid of Honor. The groom’s father stood by his son as Best Man.
