• Plant your spring bulbs. Nothing jump starts spring fever quite as fast as the sight of a yard full of beautiful daffodils and other colorful flowers. Now is the time to plant those spring bulbs so you can enjoy a bounty of fresh flowers when spring rolls around. • Shop till you drop. You are not the only one who realizes that the gardening season is almost over. Your local nurs- eries and home improvement centers also know that summer is fast coming to an end, and that means plenty of bargains. Now is a great time to restock your gardening staples and score some great buys for next year. • Repot those overgrown plants. It is great to have a green thumb, but sometimes a gardener can become the victim of their own success. If your plants grew better than you expected, use the cool fall weather to repot and transplant that overgrown greenery. • Plant a winter vegetable garden . You do not have to give up your gardening hobby altogether this winter. Many plants, in- cluding kitchen staples like lettuce, chard, kale and broccoli, love the cold weather. If you want to extend your gardening hobby into a year-round endeavor and cook with the freshest ingredients, a winter vegetable garden is the way to go. You can also use the fall season to plant fast growers like radishes and spinach. • Add some trees to your landscape. If you have been meaning to plant a few saplings, autumn is the time to do it. The fall sea- son is the recommended time to plant not only saplings but young bushes and shrubs as well. By the time spring comes around, those new landscape elements will already be well es- tablished. It is easy to think of gardening as a summer hobby, but there is no reason to head inside once the leaves begin to turn. There are still plenty of wonderful opportunities for autumn gardening ad- ventures, so pick up your shovel and get going. n Find us on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter OCTOBER 2018 21 ..................................................................................................................................................................... ————————————————————————————— — — ----- ———————————————————————————— — —————————-----————————————————— —— —-————————————————————————-—-— And whi from styli Tucker a Ho T ———————————————————————————— — ----- — le you’re here pick up some sh gifts and accessories to sn ecan has tailgating essenti P ilgate United d?e Divid use ————————— — fresh acks. als ! ———————————————————————-—-——— pecans and pecan candies. , ————————————————————————————— ————————————— — ————-----——————————— ————————————————————————————— —-----——————————————————————————— E ————————————— —————————————————————————————— ————————————————————————————— TUCKERP —————————————————————---—--- Mon–Fr Visit us D NOSU WOLLOF ———————————-———————————————— ——————————-----—————————————————— ————————————————————————————— CAN.COM —-—-———————————————————————————————————— 334.262.4 i 8am-4pm 350 N.
