F OOTBALL A NYONE ? Are you a college football fan? Even better! Add a game to your celebration and plan for a New Year’s to remember. The SEC Football Champion (or runner up) will play in the Allstate Sugar Bowl , the second oldest college bowl game in the coun- try, on New Year’s Day. Catch the Allstate Sugar Bowl New Year’s Eve Parade , Mardi Gras-style complete with floats and bands starting around 2:45 p.m. at the intersection of Elysian Fields Avenue and Decatur Street. If you’ve got extra time on your hands, hold that party over or come back for the College Football PlayoffNational Cham- pionship hosted by New Orleans on January 13 and featuring the Fiesta Bowl Champion versus the Peach Bowl Champion for the overall title. Both games will be played at the beautiful Mercedes-Benz Superdome and always draw a huge crowd. T AKING THE K IDS ? If ringing in the new year means family style for your crew, then plan for some things that will appeal to all ages. Consider the Louisiana Children’s Museum for their annual Countdown to Noon with games, entertainment, balloon and confetti drops and a toast with soda-pop. Audubon Zoo is a great choice for families as well, as they host a Noon Year’s Eve celebration withmusic, games and prizes, a countdown and sparkling cider toast. Nomatter how you choose to start your new year, what better way to have an all-around great start to 2020, with football or not, than cranking out Auld Lang Syne in the fabulous southern city of New Orleans. n 56 AL/ Metro 360 www.almetro360.com IF YOU GO New Orleans Convention & Visitors Bureau (800) 672-6124 https://www.neworleans.com Hotel Monteleone 214 Royal Street, New Orleans, LA (504) 523-3341 https://hotelmonteleone.com The Hotel St. Marie 827 Toulouse Street, New Orleans, LA (888) 626-4812 https://www.hotelstmarie.com The French Market Inn 509 Decatur Street, New Orleans, LA (888) 626-2725 Hilton New Orleans Riverside 2 Poydras Street, New Orleans, LA (504) 561-0500 https://www3.hilton.com/en/hotels/louisiana/hilton-new- orleans-riverside-MSYNHHH/index.html The French Market.
