and Mr. and Mrs. Ryan Skipper of Wetumpka, Alabama. The men of La Fete were escorted into the coliseum by a Vegas showgirl, who per- formed a brief routine before yielding the floor. A crowd favorite each year is the evening’s tableau featuring chore- ography by the ladies of La Fete. This year, each dance group was in- spired by a different aspect of casino life: Beginner’s Luck, High Rollers, and the Jackpot. Costumes and music for each group were se- lected to reflect each group’s high-stakes motif. The finale of the evening was set to Elvis’s classic “A Little Less Conversation.” An Elvis impersonator took stage before the ladies performed a brief finale to welcome the evening’s true winner to the spotlight, the 2018 Queen of La Fete who wore a beautiful black gown with dazzling silver crys- tals and rhinestones accompanied perfectly by a sparkling crystal crown. The look was complete with an elegant shiny black and red metal Venetian mask with sparkling rhinestones. Guests enjoyed dancing the night away to the sounds of Fly By Radio amidst the casino regalia on the dance floor. A pair of synchronized light displays added an energetic element to the crowd’s enjoyment of the evening. ^ 48 RIVER REGION LIVING www.riverregionliving.com OVER-THE-EDGE BUCKET LIST EVENT SUCCESSFULLY RAISES FUNDS FOR HOPE INSPIRED MINISTRIES Hope Inspired Ministries (HIM) successfully conducted their second annual Over-the- Edge event where, over the course of two days, participants are allowed to rappel from a downtown office building in Montgomery. Participants agree to raise funds for HIM, and, as an incentive, they are rewarded with an opportunity to cross off a bucket list item. The rappel is approximately 110 feet off the Foshee Realty Management Building, located at the Forty-Four Building on Market Plaza. This year, “Big Mo,” from the Montgomery Biscuits, led off the event with a successful rappel, while showing off his new physique for the crowd. He was followed by dozens upon dozens of HIM supporters, who also took the plunge over the edge. 1. Cherryl Knighten of Tiers of Sweetness 2. Tyler Presnell and Kaylin Buck 3.
