Planning commenced months before, and throughout the year, the ladies held various meetings and social events featuring the ball’s red and black casino theme. “Let the good times roll” only begins to describe the casino theme carried throughout the year’s events. The evening prior to the ball, the ladies of La Fete gathered not only to rehearse for the ball, but also to commemorate the past year. As a special thanks to the Queen for her hard work and leadership, the members gifted her with an engraved silver chalice. The board and her family presented her with blue sap- phire earrings to mark the occasion. The morning of the ball, the 2018 Queen of La Fete was honored with a breakfast at the historic home of Elizabeth Moses, which was hosted by the La Fete Board and friends of the Queen. Prior to the event, the members of La Fete gathered for a backstage cocktail party where they enjoyed drinks, appetizers, and casino décor to continue the evening’s theme. The ball en- trance set the stage for the fun to come with a giant sign to greet guests, proclaiming, “Welcome to Fabulous La Fete,” rem- iniscent of the classic “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign. As guests took their seats, they could not miss the festive am- biance with a larger than life backdrop featuring the Las Vegas skyline. Columns of red and white dice flanked the stage, and gold drapery complete with twinkling lights lent an air of casino-chic to the dance floor. Decked out in their finery, Jason Isbell and Stefanie Hicks emceed the evening’s festivities. Friends of the Queen comprised the 2018 La Fete Reception Committee: Mr. and Mrs. Chris Todd of Pike Road, Mr. and Mrs. Martin Jackson of Prattville, Mr. and Mrs. Ken Nixon of Montgomery, Mr. and Mrs. Joey Marquez of Birmingham, Mr. and Mrs. Scott Stabler of Wetumpka, Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Fuller of Pike Road, Mr. and Mrs. Jon Dyer of Montgomery The ladies of La Fete pose with their Queen before the evening’s tableau themed around La Fete’s Casino Royale.
