ments many youngsters have never seen. Thanks again to the League for its sponsorship. Mr. Klingler raved when discussing the success of MSO’s Violin and Cello Fellowship programs. Initiated in 1989, the Violin Fel- lowship was so successful that a Cello Fellowship was added in 1996. Montgomery has received worldwide recognition for these initiatives. On alternating years, accomplished young musicians from all over the world compete for the coveted position of spend- ing two years in Montgomery playing with the MSO. The selected musicians are compensated for their time. Their talents serve as mentors to all members of the volunteer Orchestra, as well as in- spiration to young musicians. Jim noted other hugely successful programs associated with the Symphony. These include the Vann Vocal Institute, the Mont- gomery Music Project and Stringfellows Summer Music Camp.
