Old Alabama Town History lives at Old Alabama Town, where six blocks of authentically restored 19th and early 20th century structures beckon you to step back in time to the days of one-room schoolhouses, grist mills, and cotton gins—all without leaving the heart of downtown Montgomery. From lavish antebellum mansions to humble log cab- ins and slave quarters, at Old Alabama Town you will learn how early Americans of all backgrounds lived and worked in Central Alabama. Old Alabama Town is managed by Landmarks Foundation, a nonprofit estab- lished in 1967 to foster, encourage, and lead historic preservation movement in Montgomery, Alabama. The Ordeman- Shaw house was purchased the following year and went under considerable restora- tion before opening to the public in 1971. About 50 buildings have been brought into the six-block area for safekeeping. Landmarks also operates Rescued Relics, a non-profit salvage warehouse on Madison Ave. Items are donated to Rescued Relics from residential and commercial restora- tions and are sold for a donation to help fund Landmarks Foundation & Old Ala- bama Town. Old Alabama Town is also a great venue for meetings, parties, weddings, receptions and more. There are several beautiful his- toric buildings and outdoor areas on site available to rent for special occasions with room for 20 to 200 people. 301 Columbus St. Montgomery, AL 36104 Hours: Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. (last ticket sold at 3 p.m.) www.landmarksfoundation.com Facebook.com/oldalabamatown 334-240-4500 Toll Free: 1-888-240-1850 58 AL/ Metro 360 www.almetro360.com BEST OF ARTS & ENTERTAINMENT ......................................................................
