RELIGIOUS AFFILIATION: Church Of Christ FOUNDING/ACCREDITATION: Founded in 1942, Alabama Christian Academy (ACA) is an independent Christian, college preparatory, coeducational school for students from pre-kinder- garten through the 12th grade. Affiliated with the churches of Christ and operating under an independent board of trustees, ACA is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS) and is a member of the National Christian Schools Association (NCSA) as well as the Alabama High School Athletic Association. ENROLLMENT: 800 AVERAGE CLASS SIZE K-12: 18-20 EXTENDEDCARE PROGRAM: ACA’s extended day program is offered daily from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. and is run by Certified Teachers. FORMAL RELIGIOUS INSTRUCTION: In line with its Christian philosophy, all ACA students attend Bible class, as well as, chapel daily. The Bible class curriculum is designed so a child who begins K5 will study the entire Bible in depth by the time of graduation. Our students are expected to think critically, to analyze the world around them, and to develop their relationship with Christ. FACULTY: More than half of Alabama Christian Academy’s teachers hold an advanced degree. Our faculty not only enhances curricula through subject-matter expertise, diverse instructional techniques, current technology, and cooperative learning strategies – but also by integrating a Christian worldview within a supportive learning environment. Each teacher at ACA offers tutoring once a week at no charge to students. UNIFORM: Yes ATHLETIC PROGRAM & ACHIEVEMENTS: As part of an overall Christian education, Alabama Christian Academy provides coeducational athletic programs for grades 6-12. ACA athletics programs stress the importance of body and spirit, promoting faith, character and sportsmanship. ACA competes as a Class 4A school and is a member of the Alabama High School Athletic As- sociation (AHSAA) and the Capitol City Conference (CCC). During ACA's fall season, students can don the Eagle's uniform in the following teams sports; Football, Volleyball, Cheerleading, Bass Fishing, Cross Country and Basketball. Spring at ACA provides many opportunities for our students including Baseball, Softball, Soccer, Track & Field and Golf. ARTS: Through programs in the arts, ACA helps each student discover, develop and express his or her unique God-given talents. We provide students the opportunity to join the award-winning ACA Marching Eagle Band and Colorguard, as well as, jazz and percussion ensembles. Meanwhile, our visual art students explore a variety of mediums, with each student’s artwork exhibited in our annual art show. Students are given numerous opportunities to participate in local and state art competitions. The ACA chorus provides students with ensemble experience in vocal production techniques and part-singing for mixed voices. In our theater pro- gram, 9th-12th grade students perform in a student showcase, at- tend the Walter Trumbauer State Theatre Festival and several yearly productions are performed. TECHNOLOGY: Our commitment is to provide the best in- struction using technology to reach all of our students. All students in grades K4-5 have access to both classroom-based iPads and Chromebooks, while each student in grades 6-12 is issued a Chromebook. ACA provides campus-wide, wireless network access, high-speed Internet access as well as both on and off-campus con- tent filtering for all students. Each student in grades K-12 has access to a personal G-Suite for Education account, which provides a robust set of communication and productivity tools managed by ACA. COMMUNITY SERVICE: As a service-oriented school, ACA encourages personal responsibility, a giving heart, and godly char- acter in students who will be equipped to serve and lead in their communities. In addition to participating in various fundraisers, students provide community outreach and service to organizations such as the Family Sunshine Center and the Montgomery Area Non-Traditional Equestrian Center (MANE), as well as visits to senior centers. ACA’s elementary is ranked #1 in Alabama and #10 in the nation in money raised for the American Heart Associ- ation during the annual Jump Rope for Heart. EXTRACURRICULAR ACTIVITIES: Key Club, Drama, Stage Choir, Jazz band, Show Choir, Marching band, Chorus, Spanish National Honor Society, Mu Alpha Theta and National Honor Society, National Elementary Honor Society, National Junior Honor Society, Bass Fishing Club, Robotics ADVANCED PLACEMENT: Alabama Christian Academy is a Pre-K-12th grade college-preparatory school committed to offer- ing a challenging, Christ-centered education to students, while keeping in mind their individual needs. Alabama Christian Acad- emy offers AP classes in World History, Psychology, Calculus, Bi- ology, English Language, English Literature, European History and US History. In addition to AP courses, Dual Enrollment classes are offered in Composition I/II, Literature I/II, Calculus and Finite in conjunction with Faulkner University. ACA currently has over 100 students enrolled in AP and Dual Enrollment Courses. OTHER: Our teachers believe in homework; however, by Board directive, elementary teachers give none on Wednesday nights in order to encourage families to attend mid-week Bible study. • Chapel sessions are held each day for assembly and/or worship, and special spiritual emphasis days through out the year to involve students in community service. The school sponsors voluntary educational trips each fall and spring. The fall trip to Washington, DC is open to 8th graders, and 10th graders take trips to Pennsyl- vania and Gettysburg. Trips to Boston and New York City alternate each spring and are available to juniors and seniors. Trips to Europe have been added recently, as well.
