The AMP On Lake Martin, 8878 Kowaliga Road, Eclectic, AL 36024 September 2, 2019 GREEK LABOR DAY BARBECUE, SERVING MONTGOMERY FOR 71 YEARS AMontgomery tradition for more than half a century, the Labor Day Barbecue sponsored by the city's Greek community is a long- standing area favorite. The event begins at 9 a.m. (until sold out!) and offerings include a choice between three entrees: pit-fired bar- becue sliced pork or 1/2 chicken or roasted, sliced lamb. Each plate comes with coleslaw, slow-simmered camp stew, bread and the church's secret recipe barbecue sauce. Chicken and pork plates are $12; lamb plates are $14. Quarts of the homemade camp stew are also available for $12 each. Event-goers may also select from a mouth-water array of Greek pastries, including baklava, which are sold separately. Don't miss this holiday feast! Located on the grounds of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church (1721 Mt. Meigs Rd.), at the corner of Capitol Parkway and Mt. Meigs Road. September 6 - 4:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. FOOTBALL, FANS AND FEATHERS – SOUTHEASTERN RAPTOR CENTER Shows for 2019 will be held the Friday before Auburn home games on Sept. 6, 13, 27; Nov. 1, 15, 22, 29. Tickets are $5 per person and purchased upon entry or in advance by visiting auburn.edu/raptor ; there is no charge for children age three and under. The hour-long program begins at 4 p.m. at the center’s the 350-seat Edgar B. Carter Educational Amphitheater, located at 1350 Pratt-Carden Drive off Shug Jordan Parkway. Reservations are not required. Gates open at 3 p.m. For special rates for groups of 25 or more, call 334-844- 6943. During the show, hawks, falcons, eagles and other birds of prey are free-flown from towers and around the amphitheater, en- abling visitors to see these raptors flying close. Up to $3000 in cash prizes will be awarded in seven categories during the reception, including a Best-in-Show award, and a First Place and Honorable Mention in each art category.
