Michael A. Jones Michael A. Jones was born and raised in Selma, Alabama, and is a graduate of Southside High School. He at- tended Troy State University and graduated with degrees in com- puter science and business administration. While at Troy, Jones joined Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia and served as a Trojan Ambassa- dor. Jones has worked in Alabama state gov- ernment for nearly 30 years and is currently the chief procurement officer (CPO) for the State of Alabama. He has served as presi- dent of the Alabama Public Health Associ- ation and the National Association of State Procurement Officials. He was inducted into the Alabama Public Health Associa- tion’s Class of 2011 Hall of Fame. He serves on the board as vice president of the STEP Foundation.” Jones and his wife, Lisa, are members of Taylor Road Baptist Church. He sings in the adult choir and serves as an ordained deacon. “I enjoy music, traveling, board games and am addicted to “Candy Crush,” he said. In 2016 his sister was diagnosed with breast cancer. “Because she is very consis- tent in getting mammograms, it was de- tected early and she was fortunate to receive attention quickly to overcome the disease,” Jones said. His father also was diagnosed with prostate cancer before he died. “Anytime I can help bring awareness to an awful disease in hope of bringing a cure or help with the prevention of cancer, I am on board 100%,” he said. Dr. Mark Kingry Dr. Kingry is a native of Dothan, born and raised there. He gradu- ated from Northview High School in 1983. After high school, he attended Hunt- ingdon University, receiving a BA in chemistry. He graduated from University of Alabama School of Dentistry in Birm- ingham with a DMD in 1991 and LSU School of Dentistry in New Orleans with an Orthodontic Certificate in 1993. Kingry married his wife, Beth Anderson of Montgomery, in 1989 and they have three daughters —Lauren, Allison and Meredith. They are members of Frazer United Methodist Church, where he has served in all lay leadership positions. After graduation from LSU School of Dentistry in the Orthodontic program, he entered into practice with Dr. Eugene Brown end eventually purchased the prac- tice in 1994. He presently owns the practice as Kingry Orthodontics. Kingry has served as a past president of the Alabama Ortho- dontics Association and 2nd District Dental Society. One of his accomplishments includes completing in first place in the Iron Man Triathalon in 2018. His personal experience with cancer is an aunt who died of stomach cancer 30 years ago. He considers himself fortunate to have only been directly impacted by his aunt’s death. However, the stress and strain that others around him have experienced has made such an impression on him that he wants to participate with the Real Men Wear Pink campaign. “I want to do my part in helping to eliminate this terrible disease,” he says. John Longshore Mont gome r y native John Long- shore has been talking sports for many years. He started his career as a radio sports anchor/analyst in 1992 and now holds the distinc- tion of being the senior radio sports talk personality inMont- gomery. A 1983 graduate of Jefferson Davis High School, Longshore attended the Uni- versity of Alabama from 1983-1987 and will earn his degree from the external degree program in May 2020. In 2002, Longshore joined the local CBS affiliate as guest sports analyst and has now become a regular with WAKA-TV along with the ABC and Fox affiliates in Mont- gomery. He keeps sports fans informed and entertained daily with his morning radio broadcast from 7-10 a.m. on SportsRadio- AM 740 WMSP. Longshore and his wife, Alice, have five children, Katter, Lucie, Ware, John Morgan and Lawton. He enjoys traveling, playing golf and attending sporting events. Although his family has not been affected by breast cancer, he experienced the diag- noses of prostate cancer two years ago. He underwent a prostatectomy that was suc- cessful and is now cancer-free. His brother had a similar experience with prostate can- cer and is also cancer-free. “My commitment to be a part of the RMWP is motivated by my desire to bring awareness to the local chapter of the Amer- ican Cancer Society and breast cancer pre- vention,” he said. Terry W. Reid Terry W. Reid joined Health Services Inc. in June of 2018 as the Chief Operat- ing Officer. Health Services Inc. is a patient-centered health care sys- tem, enhancing the lives of indi- viduals and families by providing access to affordable comprehensive health and well- ness services inMontgomery and surround- ing areas. Before joining HSI, Reid spent 11 years with Jackson Hospital and Clinic, where he was responsible for the oversight of the Se- curity Department, Emergency Manage- ment program, valet Shuttle Service and PBX Operators. In 2007 he retired with the rank of major as the commander of the Juvenile Inves- tigative Division at the Montgomery Police Department. During his later years at MPD, he was the assistant commander, eventually becoming the commander of the Training and Recruiting division. He also served as the director of the Advanced Criminal Jus- tice Academy. Through his work with Jackson Hospital and HSI, Reid has come in contact with many patients fighting cancer. “I am aware of the devastation that this disease can bring to them and their families,” Reid said. “I am a strong believer in strengthening communities.
