On Thursday afternoons in March, Kelly Bazan will educate participants on Germany’s culture, as well as connecting it to some of the works in the Museum’s galleries. APRIL 7 STRIDES FOR KIDS 5K DASH EMORY FOLMAR YMCA SOCCER COMPLEX 5K Run to be held at the Emory Folmar YMCA Soccer Complex. All 5K participants will receive a dri-fit shirt. Walk-in/Late registrations are welcome (but not guaranteed a shirt). There will also be a 1 Mile Fun Run (no t-shirts provided with the Fun Run).This event will be held rain or shine. APRIL 7 14TH ANNUAL AUTISM CRAWFISH BOIL DREAMLAND BBQ/DOWNTOWN Come out and enjoy the best crawfish boil in town. There will be live music and cold beverages. All proceeds from this event are donated to assist with the Autism programs provided by the Easter Seals Central Alabama for families in the River Region. Plates include fresh cooked crawfish, red taters, fresh corn, Kelley’s sausage and delectable baby mushrooms. Music provided by local bands who donate their talents to the cause. APRIL 8 AREA SCHOOLS TO HOST INDEPENDENT SCHOOL EXPO AUBURN UNIVERSITY MONTGOMERY Ten area independent schools have come together to offer the River Region a unique opportunity to become acquainted with the participating schools, learn more about the unique mission behind each school, and gather details on the admissions process for the individual schools. Families interested in enrolling in Pre- Kindergarten through 12th grade for fall 2018 or even fall 2019 should attend Sunday from 2:00 p.m. - 4:00 p.m. at Auburn University Montgomery, room 230 in the Taylor Center. The River Region Independent School Expo has no admission charge and will feature representatives from these local schools: Alabama Christian Academy, Holy Cross Episcopal School, Hooper Academy, Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School, Prattville Christian Academy, Saint James School, Macon East Academy, The Montgomery Academy, The Rock School, and Trinity Presbyterian School. Stu- dents and teachers roam the zoo exploring realm after realm collecting valuable information using a fun and edu- cational Earth Day Scav- enger Hunt. As they an- swer questions, their pass- port is stamped at five dif- ferent realm stations earning points to win a prize when com- pleted. Along the way, students are encouraged to play various games teaching them how they too play an im- portant role in our planet’s survival and ecological state. Students learn the importance of recycling, preservation and conservation. Guests will also have the opportunity to visit various demonstration tents sponsored by the Alabama Department of Environmental Management (ADEM), AlabamaWildlife Federation, Alabama Forestry Association, Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Alabama, Montgomery Clean City Commission, Montgomery Mu- seum of Fine Arts, Montgomery Soil and Water, and Old Alabama Town Herb Society.
