Mississippi College History. Founded in 1826, Mississippi College is the oldest in- stitution in the state. For nearly two centuries, MC’s endeavor has been to foster an environment dedicated to academic excellence and commitment to the cause of Christ in order to transform stu- dents intellectually, socially, and spiritually so that they may, in turn, go out and influence the world. Just over a three-hour drive from Birmingham, MC is located in Clinton, MS, approximately 15 minutes west of the state’s capitol. This ideal location puts stu- dents in close proximity with a variety of recreational options and internship possibilities. Mission. We have a mission. You have a calling. Our mission is to provide students with a premiere university education marked by personalized learning experiences, spiritual growth, and practical preparation for the world ahead. At MC, we want to affect the head and the heart. Students are encouraged to let their faith ani- mate their service to God and great world around them. That may take many forms, but we believe it is the most significant decision our students will make in their lives. General Impression. Students that visit our cam- pus are amazed at what they find. MC is the largest private university in the state with just over 5,000 students. Our portfolio of academic programs includes 86 undergraduate majors, over 50 graduate programs of study, a School of Law, and a Physician Assistant Program. This breadth of academic programming, plus a tightly-knit campus community and a gorgeous campus make MC a rare find in higher education. Furthermore, MC costs approximately $15,000 less per year than the average private uni- versity, meaning many families find MC to be an incredible value within the field of Christian higher education and comparable in cost to many public institutions. Student Life. MC proactively seeks to engage students in any of our 70-plus chartered campus activities and organizations on campus. From honor societies to religious organizations, fromDi- vision II athletics to MC’s very own take on Greek life, whatever your interest or passion, there is something for everyone here. Ac- tivities are planned on a weekly basis for all students by our Campus Activities Board. Plus, MC offers many unique club-sports within our Outdoor Programs, such as Archery, Bass Fishing, Equestrian, and Clay Shooting. Top Majors. Students may choose from any of our 86 majors and be well-prepared to achieve their life’s calling ahead. Pre-med- icine, nursing, pre-physical therapy, education, and business are some of our most popular majors with competitive placement rates into post-secondary educational programs. Some of our newest majors include Political Communication, Sports Media, and Electrical Engineering. Plus, any student may supplement their major with a Servant Leader- ship Minor, a new minor that ex- poses students to theory, historical examples, and real-world practice be- hind effective leadership.
