“My first experience with cancer was the loss of my beloved Aunt Linda when I was 5 years old,” says Chuck, “I remember her courage throughout her ordeal andmy fam- ily still feels the void from her untimely passing over 40 years ago.” K IRKTAVIOUS “K IRK ” J OHNSON Kirk Johnson is Assistant Head Coach and Strength Coordinator at Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School and is devoted to making a difference in children’s lives. Born in Atlanta, he grew up in Columbiana, Alabama. In 2017 he married a beautiful wife Meghan.Kirk earned a Bachelor’s de- gree fromHuntingdon College where he let- tered four years in football — serving as team captain for two. He earned a master’s degree in secondary education from Auburn Uni- versity. Kirk’s professional career began at Sidney Lanier High School. From there he went to Sylacauga High School and then in 2014 to Montgomery Catholic where he oversees and runs the Strength and Condi- tioning Program at MCPS for grades K–12. He is also Assistant Head Coach and De- fensive Coordinator for the football pro- gram. In 2018, Kirk received the Commu- nity Hero Award from Montgomery Advertiser for his efforts to develop high school football players into collegiate ath- letes and, most importantly, respectable young men. Kirk believes in the importance of Real MenWear Pink, “When people come together they can do something good.” D EE J ONES Dee grew up in a small farming commu- nity in central Kentucky. His childhood was filled with long— but fun-filled— days tend- ing to farm chores. He is blessed with a lov- ing wife, Venus, and two awesome, full-of- life boys, Mays Henry and Peyton Reid. Dee is a graduate of the Auburn University School of VeterinaryMedicine and has prac- ticed small and farm animal medicine, served as an U.S. Army veterinarian, and in veterinary public health. Since 2007, he has served as the State Public Health Vet- erinarian for Alabama within the Alabama Department of Public Health. When not working for ADPH he enjoys practicing medicine in the rural areas surrounding Montgomery with a primary focus on farm animals. “As my career has progressed,” he says, “the people connected to the animals have become so much more important to me. The enrichment that farmers and ani- mal owners give me is invaluable. I enjoy learning their story and using the shared love of animals to foster a meaningful rela- tionship beyond veterinary medicine.” S TEVE L ANE Steve Lane was born and raised in Mont- gomery. He has two children: Will (25) and Ellen (16). He attended JeffersonDavis High School and Troy University. He works for a family owned business, The Lane Corporate Group. The Real Men Wear Pink campaign is especiallymeaningful to Steve. His mother had breast cancer which she overcame. But, later it resurfaced and eventually took her life. Steve is doing his part to raise awareness and funds in memory of her. D AN M ORRIS DanMorris was born Tallassee Alabama, attended Cloverdale, Floyd and Jefferson Davis High School in Montgomery. He at- tended Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Dan has been a Financial Advisor with Ameriprise since 1992. He is a talk show host since 2008.
